CALDWELL, Frank Richardson - With deep sorrow, Frank's loving children, Gerry and Trish, announce the peaceful passing of their dear father. Born in Winnipeg, Frank enjoyed a cherished childhood with his loving mother and 4 brothers. At 17, he joined the Canadian Navy with his best friend, Bill, trained at St. Hyacinth, PQ, as a Signalman before setting sail for the next 3 years to run convoys from Halifax through Boston, New York, across the Atlantic Ocean to Ireland and England. Frank's story has been documented and will be part of Canada Remembers and a WWII documentary. Eighty years after enlisting, Frank was thanked for his service, in person, by Canada's Prime Minister. On return from WWII, Frank attended University before beginning his career with James Richardson & Sons, Winnipeg. Frank and Joyce were married in July, 1950, and started their life in Saskatoon. In 1966, two kids and a dog in tow, they headed West to Victoria where most of their family had migrated. He continued work in sales and marketing while enjoying a lifetime of activities including golf, skiing, curling, walking, swimming. St. John's Anglican Church was an integral part of his life for 90+ years, as was the Masonic Lodge for 50+, and service with numerous associations and committees. Our Father exuded integrity, with a confident, loving, sincere, kind, honest, gracious, humorous nature. As a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he loved unconditionally. His passions were family, people, conversation, travel, music, style, reading, FOOD and much more. He masterfully nurtured life-long, treasured relationships and memories throughout his 98+ years. Deepest gratitude to our dear "Angels," including our Seton Villa "family", Burnaby Fire and Burnaby Hospital 4WB. Godspeed our Poppa. May your brave and beautiful soul soar like the eagle you are. Your light will never dim as you shine on in our hearts and souls. Private family service. In lieu of cards or flowers, always be kind and pay it forward.
