In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WELLS, Derrick Charles - age 64, of Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, passed unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2022. Derrick is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Leone (Fuller) Wells; his son, of whom he was so proud, Michael Wells (Tennille Bishop); and his special joy, granddaughter, Daphne. Derrick is also survived by his parents, John and Geraldine (Burrell) Wells; brother, Darrell Wells (Tessa); and sisters, Danielle Deveau (Kevin) and Debra Wells-Hopey (Derek), all of Halifax. Derrick grew up in Bridgeview in Halifax, playing with BB-guns, dirt bikes and attending Boy Scout camps, often accompanied by his partner-in-mischief, brother Darrell. As a young man he always had an interest in motorcycles and cars. Derrick also joined the Navy for a time during this period, and met the love of his life, Leone. He worked in the hospitality industry for many years and was recently (happily) retired. Derrick will be remembered for his easy-going ways, sense of humour and his great pride in his son Michael. Derrick loved to spend time with Michael, often with his friend Greg Farnell. Over the years the three of them spent many days chatting and laughing as they worked on cars. Derrick’s open ear, ability to make others laugh and his gentle nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of Derrick’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 25th from 6-8 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. (The Saltwire Network 19 Oct 2022)
