In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

Gerry Coulter

Petty Officer 2nd Class Engineer, 62394-H, RCN / C.A.F. (Navy)

Died: 30 Aug 2022

COULTER, Gerry - My brother, Gerry Coulter passed away at his home on Tuesday August 30. Gerry was 76 years old, and he was the bravest man I know. For the past two years, he fought cancer and he was winning. I guess the fight and the drugs were too much. His heart gave out and he died of heart failure. Gerry was a proud Canadian. He joined the Canadian Navy at 17 (ran away from home and lied about his age to enlist) and served for several years on HMCS Bonaventure. He survived several fires on that ship; many of his mates did not. He served in the Navy for over 20 years, posted to several small ships. Ironically, he was serving on the Saskatchewan when I was working in Saskatchewan. He saw the world and happily came home to live in Canada. Gerry dearly loved his family; son Randy and me, and most especially his soul mate/wife Janet. They were very happy over the last 20+ years, and made each other laugh about something every day. Gerry was my rock, my hero, and a good brother who was always there with a cool hand and warm heart… and a little tot to ease any pain. I will miss his gravely voice and really loud laugh a lot.
