Richard Joshua Tipert

Died: 30 Jul 2022, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

 

TIPERT, Richard Joshua – Age 83, of Bridgewater and East Dalhousie, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a brief illness. Born in Wentzell Lake, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Joshua Hector and Effie St. Clair (Leggie) Tipert.

 

Richard spent his working career with the Canadian Armed Forces, Naval Division, serving onboard a number of HMCS River Class destroyers. A highlight of his career was the privilege of meeting Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. Living in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, raising his three daughters with his wife, Margaret - he enjoyed camping, square dancing and working in his garden. Upon retirement, Richard and Margaret moved to Butler Lake, Lunenburg County, where he took great pleasure in hosting family and friends at the lake through many celebrations and holidays. During this time Richard and Margaret also explored the world on various cruises - he could not get the salt water out of his veins! They developed wonderful memories together during these times.

 

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Margaret Rose (Sholds) Tipert, Bridgewater; daughters, Heather (Joseph) White, Upper Nine Mile River; Sherry (David) Allan, Simms Settlement; Richelle (William) Young, Blockhouse; grandchildren, Joshua White, Scott White, Emily White; Thomas Allan, Rebekah Allan; Aislynn Young, Marlee Young, William Young; great-grandchildren, Molly Jayne, Liam, Hudson, Joseph, Haylee, Caroline, Levis and Vivian; his sister, Susan (Paul) Feener, Front Center; brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Tipert, Bridgewater; several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a niece, Leanne Tipert.

 

The Family would like to thank all the staff, nurses and doctors of the South Shore Regional Hospital for their care and attention in making Richard comfortable during his last days.

 

There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2022, in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany with Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Interment will follow in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany. A reception will follow in St. John’s Church Hall. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation.
