MOORE, John Davidson, Q.C. -  Of Halifax, passed away on July 18, 2022, in the VG Site QEII. John was born in Halifax on January 7, 1931, and was the son of the late Greta and Arthur Moore. Following graduation from high school in Moncton, N.B., he entered Dalhousie University and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1953 and from the Law School in 1955. He was also a naval cadet for three years. John was a retired partner from Stewart McKelvey where he practiced law for over 50 years. He was also a past managing partner in the firm. John was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1972. He was a past president of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society, past president of the Halifax Club and a past Commodore of the St. Margaret Sailing Club. His interests were boating in St. Margaret’s Bay from the family cottage, golfing at Ashburn Golf Club and was a very active participant in duplicate bridge. A highlight of every summer for over 40 years was the annual golf tournament with the members of “The St. Margaret Closed Golf Group”. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Petersen); sons, Graham (Patty) of Dartmouth; and Andrew of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Ben Moore and Emily Moore (Sean), of Halifax; sister, Marilyn Stevens; as well as several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 28th, from 2-4 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. The family has requested that those attending please wear masks. A private family burial will take place at a later date in St. Peter’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Hackett’s Cove. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
