MORRISON, Donald Bruce - passed away quietly at home on February 27, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife Hazel and his children, Dixie McFadden (Dave) of Logan Lake, BC, Douglas Morrison (Marianne) of Nanton, AB, Chris Morrison (Laurie) of Crossfield, AB, Clay Morrison (Dianne) of Calgary, AB; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Turley of Calgary and brother Stu Morrison of Blairmore, AB. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Mildred Morrison, brothers, Harold and Duncan. Donald was born and took his schooling in the Parkland and Nanton area. After graduation, he joined the navy and served out of Victoria for five years. During this time he met Hazel and married in 1948 and moved back to the High River area in 1951. After working as a store manager for a number of years, Don, Hazel and family moved to Parkland where they purchased their own store. In 1978, they moved to Nanton and Don ran the ESSO bulk plant for ten years, retiring in 1991. After retirement, he enjoyed driving the Nanton Community bus part-time and had fond memories of the many trips taken. Don was always an active member in his community. A member of the Nanton Legion for thirty-five years during which he served as President, a number of other positions, and was awarded life membership. He donated his time to support others through the Cancer Society Driving Program. In his caring way, he served on the Nanton Memorial Community Hall Board and the Nanton Emergency Fund Board for twenty-five years. Don was a family man above all else. Loved camping, vacations, and Christmas with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Educational Bursary of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 80, Nanton, AB.
