McKAY, Robert William (Bob) - In loving memory Dad passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge, B.C. at the age of 80 years. He was born in Revelstoke, grew up in New Westminster, and raised his family in Victoria. He will be sadly missed by two sons Rob (Lorena) and Andrew (Susan), five grandsons Ryan, Cameron, Nigel, Connor and Liam, sister Grace, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by the love of his life our mother Maida, parents Helen and William McKay, brother Mel and sister Jean (King). Dad was a World War II veteran and a member of the C.F.B. Equimalt (Naden) Band for 20 years. After leaving the Navy, he continued his love of the clarinet with the Chiefs and Petty Officers Band, playing many concerts and Remembrance Day ceremonies. After his military career he continued to serve his country with the federal Penitentiary Service. An avid runner, dad also ran up to 7 miles a day for many years. Dad will be remembered for his boundless love, kindness and generosity, and as a loyal friend to many. He was completely devoted to the happiness and well being of his family. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Willow Manor in Maple Ridge, and would also like to thank the Chiefs and Petty Officers Association for their assistance. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob McKay to the Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson's Centre Society, 813 Darwin Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8X 2X7.
