MARTIN, Eldon Lloyd (Curly) - passed away suddenly, but peacefully at home on April 2, 2003. Born in Red Deer, Alberta on August 12, 1922. He was predeceased by his parents Andy and Lila; his sister Fidelia and brothers, Bill, Walter, Noble and Glenn; lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Edna; his sisters, Hazel Quinn of Edmonton, Alberta and Doreen Heath of Berwyn, Alberta; his brother Ken Martin (Aileen) of Red Deer, Alberta; his children, Sandra Johnson (Frank), of Olalla, Washington, Linda Mylie (Doug), Bobbi Sheridan, Maureen Martin and Andy Martin (Alison); his grandchildren, Dennis Johnson, Olalla Washington, Denise Kalde (Marco), Hamburg, Germany, Kimberly Angus (Jim), Colleen DeJong (Kevin), Carin Robinson (Kyle), Tannis Stewart (Robert), little Grace Martin, step grandchildren Doug Mylie Jr.(Cheryl), of Stony Plain, Alberta, Randy Mylie (Dayna), and Kevin Mylie (Claudine). Grandpa Curly will be greatly missed by his great grandchildren Bryce, Liam, Nolan, Molly, Emma, Brendan, Dylan, Danielle, Sheldon and wee baby Aidan. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in-law in Brandon, Manitoba and many nieces and nephews. Curly joined the Royal Canadian Navy on March 24, 1942, serving 25 years and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer 1st class E.R.A. on March 25, 1967. He then again retired a second time from Equimalt Dockyard in August 1982. Navy memories and the many life long friendships formed duringhis Career were always an important part of Curly's life. He was a member of the Chief and Petty Officers Association. The Esquimalt Legion, Navy Art Apps, First Open Heart Society of B.C. (executive), and the Gorge Vale Golf Club. He was a dedicated visitor to the Open Heart patients. Curly will always be remembered for his excellent Irish tenor voice, leading family and friends in many a songfest! He always enjoyed a good party, a game of golf, and last but not least a well aged single malt scotch! Please join us in a celebration of Curly's life at the Chief and Petty Officers Mess, Lyall St. on Monday, April 7th at 1:00pm.
