In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BLUNDELL (LAPOINTE), Terance William Gerald - was born on the 5th of October, 1957 in Lachine, Quebec, he joined the Canadian Navy right out of high school and for ten years Terry travelled the world as a Steward.
When we met he was working with the Commissionaires in Ottawa. I was playing pool in a bar called "The Cave" when Terry walked into my life. He told me once that for him it was love at first sight, it took me a while to trust him but soon he became my partner, my best friend, the other half of my soul.
When the Twin Towers came down Terry felt it was his duty to protect his country once again, this time serving as a cook in Kingston. However, his age and marching around the base took its toll, and after five short years was medically discharged. Regretfully he never went back to sea.
For the rest of his life he was in pain, so much pain that we didn't realize he had contracted cancer. It grew unchecked for two years, when it was finally diagnosed it was too late. Terry passed away in his sleep surrounded by love on the 17th of August.
Terry, we created two beautiful daughters together, we miss you. I will never stop loving you for all that you were.
Fair winds and following seas, shipmate. You stand relieved. We have the watch. Rest in peace. (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 27 Aug 2022)
