DUMAS, Jamie Yvon - It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden death of our beloved brother Jamie Yvon Dumas due to natural causes at the young age of 52 on August 5, 2022 in Victoria B.C. Jamie was a geologist by trade, but wore many hats throughout his career. He left home and joined the Navy at 17, where he developed his love of the ocean. Jamie was a Navy Officer, tree planter, diver for BC Fisheries, teacher in China and Thailand, and a geologist travelling to Africa, Baffin Island and all across Canada. Jamie had a love for travel and was happiest being on the water, in the mountains or in the woods prospecting. He was a collector from a young age starting with stamps, rocks and fossils and an avid hunter of dinosaur bones in the Alberta badlands. Jamie was an animal lover and always had huge fish tanks and of course his many cats. He was a voracious reader from a young age and seemed capable of retaining everything he read. He was very knowledgeable in so many subjects. Jamie had a wonderful sense of humour. He was very witty and that was always followed by his big beautiful smile and his huge dimples. Jamie was the youngest of five children. He is survived by his mother Janet, his daughter Anya (the absolute love of his life) and her mother Laura, his second wife Julia and her son Saman. Also survived by siblings Debbie Whillans (Bruce), Bonnie Wakewich (Steve), Brian Whillans (Corlynn), Wendy Stajkowski (Norman), nephews Jordan Michels (Breanne) and daughter Eliana, Trevor Whillans (Julie) and son Ronan, Chase and Reid Stajkowski and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his father Yvon Dumas in 2018. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. If desired, donations can be made to ‘New Hope Dog Rescue' through their Facebook page. “Leave me in the heart of nature beneath the sunlight's glow” (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 13 Aug 2022)
