In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

JACKSON, David Phillip - B.Sc., M.A., M.A.Sc., Dip.Eng.Mgt., M.Eng.Mgt, Ph.D. - passed away at home in his 82nd year with his beloved wife Susan by his side. He will be deeply missed by: his children Scott (Morgan) Jackson of Seattle and Timothy (Laura) Jackson of Toronto; grandson Carter Jackson; brother Roy (Susan) Jackson; and nephews Chris and James Jackson.

Dave was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. However, many would fondly remember him for his wonderful sense of humour, passion for learning and life work as a world-renowned engineering physicist. Dave spent 27 years working at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories prior to becoming a full-time professor of Engineering Physics at McMaster University in Hamilton. 

Dave attended the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies from 1964-1966. He later became director of Canada's National Fusion Program and president of the Canadian Nuclear Society. He co-authored several books (including Half Lives: A Guide to Nuclear Technology in Canada and Unlocking the Atom). He also wrote a popular industry blog.
Dave was also very proud to have served in the Canadian Navy as a Lieutenant.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. His final resting place will be Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto with his parents (predeceased) and cherished dog, Roamer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army (one of his favourite charities). (The Hamilton Spectator 04 Aug 2022)
