Born: 1920

Died: 24 Jun 2012

STEVENS, Joyce (Jessie) Mather Cameron (née CAMERON) - Joyce slipped away peacefully in the wee hours of June 24, 2012 surrounded by family. Joyce was in her 92nd year, fun and feisty to the end, leaving on her own terms only after she had been visited by all of her six children: Lynne (Floyd); Barb; Doug (Trish); Kathy; Don (Louise); and, Pauline (Darryl). A devoted Mother and Grandma, she leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews across Canada. Joyce was predeceased by siblings Jean, Angus, Grace (twin), and Marnie. She was born in Weston, Ontario to Angus and Adelaide Cameron. Joyce loved her strong Scottish roots and the pipes never failed to stir her heart. Joyce proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy (WRCNS – the Wrens) during WWII. She retired from the BC Public Service in 1985 after having worked in the Ministry of Attorney General in Victoria and the Ministry of Forests in Nelson, BC. Joyce had an enduring spirit, still delighting in life through her final years at Oak Bay Lodge. She will be dearly missed by one and all.

A private family service will be held. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Oak Bay Lodge for their loving care and support. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to dear ‘companions’ Trish and Eunice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Activity program at Oak Bay Lodge. Condolences for the family may be offered below. (McCall Gardens Funeral and Cremation Service, Victoria BC)
