In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
WINTERS, Francis Alexander - 79, Lilydale, Lunenburg County, died Thursday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Garden Lots, he was a son of the late Clarence and Clara (Silver) Winters. He worked with Briny Deep Fisheries Ltd, Lunenburg, and later with Department of Fisheries until retiring. During the Second World War, he served with Royal Canadian Navy, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg. He is survived by his wife, the former Amy Wagner; three daughters, Mrs Elaine Fisher, Lunenburg, Gretchen (Mrs Robert Mercer), Garden Lots, Mrs Carolyn Zinck, Lower Rose Bay; four sons John, Indian Point, David, Michael, Robert, all of Lunenburg; a sister Mrs Charlotte Backman, Heckman Island; nine grandchildren. The body has been cremated. Graveside service will be 11 am Tuesday in Garden Lots Cemetery, Lunenburg, Rev Vincent Ihasz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nova Scotia Heart Foundation, Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation, or a charity of choice. (The Halifax Chronicle-Herald 26 May 1990 pg 26)
