In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MUNROE, Gordon - With sorrow, we announce the passing of Gordon Munroe. Born in Edmonton and moved with the family to Victoria in 1951. He was married to Donna for 53 happy years. During his working years he was in the Navy (saw many parts of the world). After his service he was employed at the CFB Esquimalt dockyard until his retirement. Gordon and Donna were active in many clubs. In the Sports Car Club he participated in rally, hill climbing and formula A racing. They enjoyed obedience training with their Shetland Sheep dogs and won many awards. They began skiing at Mt. Washington and he was soon part of the Ski Patrol and training others in First Aid. For many years they hosted a ski patrol camp out at their property on Lake Cowichan. We heard there were memorable moments. He became an avid cyclist and started participating in bike club races. Off season they spent time hunting throughout the province. Donna was always 100% supportive of every endeavor Gordon took on. They enjoyed every phase of their lives together. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Donna, parents Hugh & Doris Munroe, and nephew Ricky Munroe. Survived by brother Bill (Darlene), nephew Curtis (Tanya), Pyper, Breanna, nephew Marty (Erica), Vincent Marika, Mackenzie and companion Sierra. Also, many members of Donna's family (Richmond). A very heartfelt thank you from the Munroe's to Lisa, Michael, and boys for loving and caring for all of Gord's needs since Donna's passing. They were very special to Gord. No service is planned at this time. Donations if desired, to Victoria Hospice Society. (Victoria Times Colonist 07 Jul 2022)
