ROBERTSON, Robert Bruce (Robbie) - Age 86, of Windsor, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 29, 2016 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born March 31, 1930 in Trenton, Ontario, Robert was the son of the late David "Raymond" and Agnes (Hutchinson) Robertson. Robbie proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCN) for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1978 as Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class. His interest in the military and exploring remained throughout his life, as he continued to enjoy his annual vacations to Florida and the Caribbean. Robbie is survived by his daughters, Cindy, Montreal; Patti, Halifax; Vicki (Alan Power), Windsor; stepsons, Harley Frizzell, Hantsport and Steven Frizzell, Gypsum Mines; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and an extended family in Quinte West, Ontario and throughout Alberta. Robbie was predeceased by his wife, Audrey (Caldwell). The family wishes to recognize the caring and dedicated nursing staff on Units 200 and 500 at the Hants Community Hospital who looked after Dad during the past two months and in particular, Dr. Cathryn Smith. We will be forever grateful to all of you. Your skill, grace and compassion made a difficult time for Dad and for us much easier. Thank you. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A funeral service celebrating Robert's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1 in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King St., Windsor, Rev. Father John MacPherson officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wiley Ave., Windsor. Donations in memory of Robert may be made to Canadian Lung Association.
