Died: 01 Aug 2001, New Westminster, British Columbia

 

MacLEAN, Reverend Doctor Charles (Colonel) - passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, New Westminster, British Columbia in the early morning hours of August 1st, 2001. Dr. Charles MacLean, dearly beloved husband of Marnie. Loving father of Joan Axford (Don), Heather, and Charles (Phyllis). Fondly remembered by his four grandchildren Adam (Becky), David (Catherine), Graham and Julia. Born in Oxford, Nova Scotia on December 23, 1912. Charlie served overseas with the Argyle and Southerland Highlanders as a Padre during World War II. Subsequently, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy where he served in a number of congregations in Eastern Canada until they settled in Richmond where Charlie was the assistant minister at the Richmond Presbyterian Church, until his full retirement. The family wish to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Main South, George Derby Centre in Burnaby for their kindness and generosity shown to Charlie, and to the nursing and medical staff on "5" and "PCU" in making Dad's last few days as comfortable as possible, for which the family are very grateful. A Memorial Service will be held in the Richmond Presbyterian Church, 7111 No. 2 Road, Richmond, B.C. on Tuesday, August 7th, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Rev. Dr. Tony Plomp, officiating. Charlie's cremated remains will be interred in Oxford, Nova Scotia at a later date. Richmond Funeral Home 273-3748 (Vancouver Sun 03 Aug 2001)
