Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Engine Room Artificer, RCN

Born: 1937

Died: 03 Feb 2022

FAITHFULL, George David - Our community sadly lost a pillar on Thursday, February 3, 2022 when Mr. George David Faithfull, favourably known as Pop, passed away at the age of 84 from natural causes after several months of declining health.

George was born in Montreal on March 27, 1937, to his father George Albert Faithfull and mother Ethel Faithfull (nee Keene). The oldest of three children, George is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mrs. Violet Marie Faithfull, their four children and their spouses: David (Linda) Faithfull, Susan Faithfull (Paul Muttershead), Ronald (Michelle) Faithfull, and Dean (Susan nee Dahl) Faithfull, along with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. George is also survived by one brother, Ronald Faithfull and several other extended family members. He was predeceased by one brother Robert Arthur Faithfull (1998).

George didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped out with any odd jobs he could find starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him to enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of seventeen. He served on many ships in Halifax, Quebec City and Victoria during his 25 year career.

His contributions to the lives of many includes, his time spent volunteering with the Junior Golf program at Royal Colwood Golf Course and also serving as President of the British Columbia Golf Association.

His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he reached but never met.

Memorial Donations in honour of George may be made to a charity of own choice.

A Private Celebration for George will be held at a later date.

At this time, the family is asking for privacy as they grieve and heal together.
