MOONEY, Willard Bruce - Bruce was predeceased by his wife Gerry and son Wayne. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn McFeely (Jim), daughter-in-law Janis Mooney and grandchildren Colleen and Patrick Mooney. Bruce was a newspaperman his whole life with the exception of his Navy service on Corvettes off the West Coast in WW II. His newspaper career began on the Winnipeg Tribune first as a copy boy then as a printer, continued with the Royal Canadian Navy publication of the west coast 'Gangway' where he was the news editor. After his Navy tour he joined The Vancouver Sun on July 9, 1947 and retired on August 29th 1981. As a printer, he took pride in setting Page One of the Vancouver Sun. Bruce will be very much missed by family and friends. There will be a celebration of his life at noon on Thursday, August 20 at the Canadian Memorial United Church Centre for Peace, 1825 West 16 Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.. (Vancouver Sun / The Province 17 Aug 2009)
