In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CARTER, Frederick Arthur (Fred) - was born in New Dale, Manitoba on January 13, 1917. When he enlisted in the Navy on July 21, 1943, he was already married to the former Dorothy Johnson and father of a two-year-old son. Another son was born during the war. He served with HMCS Prevost as Stoker First Class in Canada during World War II. He was discharged on December 20, 1945. After discharge, Fred was employed at Imperial Oil as a process operator. During these busy years, Fred found the time to pitch for the Imperial Soft Ball team, and take up flying and sailing. Another son was added in 1954. He loved hunting and fishing in Northern Ontario. At the time of his death, Fred was a long-time member of the Sarnia Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sarnia Branch 62. Frederick passed away on November 8, 1988.
