HEWITT, Vernon Douglas - 62, of Bible Hill, died Wednesday in Colchester Hospital. A native of Digby County, he was a son of Mrs. David Hewitt and the late Mr. Hewitt. He had been a resident of Truro for 27 years where he had been on the staff of the Royal Bank until retirement two years ago. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War and held the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a member of Truro Gyro Club, Colchester Boy Scout Association, Truro Golf Club, and a former member of Truro Curling Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Hood; two daughters, Dianne and Beverley, Truro; two sons, Wayne, Truro; David, Yarmouth; one sister, Mrs. Nina Whebber, Digby; one brother, Harold, Digby; and three grandchildren. The body is at Mattatall Funeral Home, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. E. A. Chapman officiating. Committal service will be in Lewis Memorial Chapel, Robie Street cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nova Scotia Heart Fund.
