Brian Allan Rice Clarke

Died: 28 Apr 1981, Matlock, Manitoba

 

CLARKE, Brian Allan Rice- Suddenly on April 28, 1981 Brian and Earla Clarke passed away at their residence in Matlock, Man.

 

Brian was born in England June 25, 1923. His parents immigrated to Canada during the 30's and resided in Prince Alberta for many years.

 

Ealra was born in Winnipeg Jun 26, 1923.

 

They leave to mourn their passing two daughters, Leslie and her husband Tim Frederickson of Prince George, B.C., Tanis of Winnipeg and one son Jim of Winnipeg. They will be dearly missed by their grandchildren, Krista and Lindsay Frederickson of Prince George, B.C.

 

Earla is predeceased by her sister Hazel and both Brian and Earla are predeceased by their parents. Brian is survived by one sister Margaret and one brother Colin of British Columbia. Earla is survived by one brother Douglas Lloyd and his wife Margaret of Toronto; one nephew Vaughan and one niece Janice, both of Boston, Mass.

 

Earla was a loving mother who enjoyed raising her three children. She was an active member of the Kinsmen for many years and had participated with various volunteer groups throughout her life.

 

Brian was a Second World War veteran, having served in the navy. He was employed by Macleods for over 25 years, having advanced to the position of Director of Market Research. April 16, 1969 Brian received acknowledgement of most valued service to the Target for Economic Development Commission and in recognition to this outstanding contribution to the Economic Development of Manitoba, signed by Walter C. Weir, Premier.

 

He successfully completed a course in Marketing Management at the University of Western Ontario June 6, 1969 and in January 1970 completed a course of study in Retail Management at the Banff School of Fine Arts. He left Macleods in the early 1970's. He worked for Western Grocers and later returned to Macleods as the Director of Store Development and Expansion until his retirement in 1976. The following year, Brian was elected for a three year term as the Mayor of the Village of Dunnottar (1977-1980)

 

Both will be missed by their family and friends.

 

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Kerr's Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place. They will be laid to rest in the Chapel Lawn Cemetery.  Kerr's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
