Thomas Emmett (Tom) Carrabre (Kapoo)

RCNVR

Born: 25 Dec 1923

Died: 11 Jan 2022, Winnipeg, Manitoba

CARRABRE, Thomas Emmett - Tom "Kapoo" "Tootie" passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital. The family thanks everyone on the 8th floor Palliative Care Unit for their care during these final months. We also want to thank Father Greg Mulligan and Lilibeth Daeng for their friendship and for spending so much time with Dad. Tom joins his beloved wife Alma, who passed away in 2018. He will be missed by daughter Joanne (Jim), sons, Pat (Mary Jo) and Jim (Cathy), and grandchildren, Kerry, Kelly, Gillian, Ariel, Kailey, Alex, Kelsey and Jordyn. A man of deep faith who was always willing to help those in need, he started each day with prayers, then moved on to push-ups, sit-ups, and a long walk. He loved to work hard, especially if it involved digging or moving rocks. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for 74 years. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his sense of humour was evident in the many hours he spent with them. They will always remember "those ducks quacking" or "listening for the woozel." Like many young men of his generation, Tom served during the Second World War. His time was spent on a Corvette in the Naval Reserve. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Susan, sister Kathleen and brothers, Jim, John, Peter (Pat) and Joe. The family is planning to gather in the Spring to hold a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. (The Winnipeg Free Press 18 Jan 2022)
