BAKER, Cecil K. - RCN, Retired - passed away on 2 January 2022 at the Victoria Hospice. Born 19 July 1935 in Victoria, British Columbia, raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia and retired in Victoria. Predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, and parents Amelia and Archibald Baker. He is survived by his daughter Kristine and son-in-law Brent Claus, son Kevin and daughter-in-law Philippa, daughter Kimberley and son-in-law George Anderson, brother Derek and sister Doris Kuckmann. After high school, Cecil served a machinist apprenticeship at the Halifax dockyard, joined the Navy in 1957, graduated from UNB, commissioned in 1963 and retired in 1991. Cecil volunteered with many groups during his lifetime including Boy Scouts, NDHQ Curling Club, South Van Isle Safety Council, CFB Esquimalt Museum and Archives Society, CNIB, Kidney Foundation and was a member of the Naval Officer's Association and the Gordon Head Lawn Bowling Club. A special thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospice for their care and compassion. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. There will be no service by request. Interment will be held at a later date in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia. (Victoria Times Colonist 08 Jan 2022)
