MESSENGER, William F. - 72, of 72 Alma Street, Ingersoll, died Monday, September 8, 1896 at Alexandra hospital.
He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Wallace; by his sons Larry of Woodstock and David of Salford, and by his daughters, Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Fortier of Ingersoll, and Mrs. Marlene Dunham, also of Ingersoll.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Messenger is survived by his brother and sisters, Mrs. John (Lille) Laurenceson of Ingersoll, Mrs. Orville (Cay) Edwards of Woodstock, Mrs. Tom (Ellen) Hawes) of Woodstock, Edward of Ingersoll, and Mrs. Tom (Jessie) Moffat of Leamington.
He was predeceased by his brother John in 1959, and by his granddaughter Wanda Jean Messenger in 1961.
Canon Tom Griffin conducted the September 11 funeral service at McBeath Funeral Home. Interment in Ingersoll Rural Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rob Messenger, Wade Messenger, Clint Fortner, Howard Halliday, Mike Messenger and Greg Laurenceson. Honorary Pallbearers were Brett Messenger, Bill Dunham, Peter Fortner and Randy Hawes.
Mr. Messenger was born in England. He worked as a machine operator at the former Morrow Company, and he was a member of St. James' Anglican Church.
He serve in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 119. He was also a member of the King Hiram Lodge 37, AF and AM. Donations may be made in Mr. Messenger's memory to St. James' Anglican church's restoration fund or to Crippled Children. (The Ingersoll Times 17 Sep 1986)
