BUTLER, Kathleen Lydia (née GOUGH) - With deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Kaye, 89, on July 27th, 2014 at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews. She was predeceased in 2002 by Bill, her devoted husband and best friend of 53 years. She has joined her parents, Karl and Maggie (Lyons) Gough; son, Jeff; brother, Bill Gough; brother-in-law, Donald Clowater; and sister-in-law, Carolee Gough. Kaye will be missed by her three children: Jennifer (Jim) Martin of Waweig, NB, Andrew (Dixie) of Hay River, NT, and Les (Susan) of Coldstream, BC; daughter- in- law, Ginette Frenette Butler; nine grandchildren: David, Catherine and Elisabeth Butler, Mike and Caleb Martin, Amanda Butler and Bill, Danielle and Jordan Butler; sister, Marion Clowater, brother Gerry Gough, sister-in-law Shirley Gough, and several nieces and nephews. Kaye volunteered to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy (Wrens), was trained as a signaler, and served in Canada and overseas during the Second World War from 1943-45. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1949. Kaye followed Bill through his career making her home in Chicoutimi, QC, Hampton, and finally returning to Fredericton (her hometown) in 1973. Time with her family was so important to her as were the many trips with Bill (especially those where family were able to accompany them). She especially enjoyed her time at Harvey Lake. Kaye was well known for her quick wit, passionate discussions on politics and current events of the day and her special messages in every card or note she sent. We especially thank everyone at Passamaquoddy Lodge who cared for Mom and became very dear friends during the past seven years. Visitation will be at McAdam's Funeral Home in Fredericton on Friday, August 1st, from 7 to 9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a tribute service at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, August 2nd, at 2:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Ross Hebb officiating and Canon T.A. Smith assisting. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. For those who wish, donations in Kay's memory can be made to the William S. Butler and Jeffrey W. Butler Memorial Scholarship at the University of New Brunswick (The Telegraph Journal 10 Feb 2012)
