POOLE, Cyril Ormond - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, CPO Cy Poole. Predeceased by his brother Norman (Nip), his sister Muriel, and wife Mary. Survived by his daughters Susan (John), Dee (Dana), and Tracy (Rob), 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Cy enjoyed golfing, curling and camping. He coached his daughters' softball teams. During the 2nd world war Cy served at Gordon Head Army Barracks. After the war Cy joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He attended the Queen's Coronation, served in United Nations Peace Keeping Roles and enjoyed postings in Calgary, Halifax, Borden and Victoria. He was proud to march in the Victoria Day Parade each year. Cy was a Director with the Royal Canadian Navy Benevolent Fund, active in the Chief and Petty Officer's Association, The Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans Association. Cy served as Director of the Veterans Care Society of Victoria. He received the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation in 2007. Our family sends heart felt gratitude to the staff, volunteers, and friends at Broadmead Care. As Cy would say, it was the best cruise line he ever sailed on. The food was good, and the people great. We will remember you all. A private family service will be held. (Victoria Times Colonist 10 Dec 2021)
