HEWITT, Bruce Frederick - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father Bruce Frederick Hewitt. Dad died peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Linda (Greg) Wentzel, Lunenburg, NS, Bruce (Lucie) Hewitt, Winnipeg, MB and Randall, Collingwood, ON; and his grand-children, Jason Wentzel, Lunenburg, NS and Jora Wentzel, Halifax, NS. Bruce was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary Rose Adrienne (Roy) in 1999; his parents, Noah and Gladys (Johnson) Hewitt; and brothers, Donald and James. Dad was proud of his long military career, which began as a volunteer during the war on the Corvette, Port Arthur. After leaving the military in 1974, he returned to Winnipeg where he owned and operated Gate City Appliances until his retirement in 2001. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Building, 6 Donald St., Ste. 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave., with Msgr. Ward Jamison officiating. (The Winnipeg Free Press 06 Nov 2002)
