Rupert Theodore (Ted) Fast

Died: 10 Sep 2005, Calgary Alberta

 

FAST, Rupert Theodore (Ted) - passed away at the Foothills Hospital on April 10, 2005 at the age of 84 years. Ted is survived by his son Warren and his wife Patricia, grandson Shane and granddaughter Rhiannon. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, especially by long-time friend and soulmate Janet. Ted was born on February 24, 1921, raised and educated in Rosthern, SK. During the 1940s, he volunteered for the navy and served on the high seas for four-and-a-half years. While in the navy, he married Margaret Krajci and later raised two children. Ted was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1999, his daughter Karen Sidar in 1980, his mother, father, five brothers and three sisters. When Ted was demobilized from the navy, he furthered his studies in the operation and maintenance of high pressure vessels and received his Alberta Government First Class Certificate and entered and became well known in operations and administration in the oil patch. In his retirement years, he worked for the Alberta Provincial Government Boilers' Branch. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life, Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Ted's name may be made directly to the SPCA (1323 - 36 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 6T6).
