Robert Purvis (Bob) Lorimer

LORIMER, Robert Purvis (Bob) - Bob passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in his retirement home in Oak Ridges, Richmond Hill, ON, at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Sutherland) in 2004. He is survived by his loving children: Catherine (Brian) Bustard of Ottawa, ON; Barbara (Robert) Leger of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Charles (Sera) Lorimer of King City, ON; Peter (Colleen) Lorimer of Barrie, ON; and Jane (Paul) Curren of Yellowknife, NT, as well as 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Bob has several nieces and nephews and many dear friends all of whom will miss his wonderful laugh and his kind, considerate ways. Bob was raised in Stellarton, NS and after serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War 2, he made a career with CN. His many transfers brought him and his family to Truro, Halifax, Moncton, Campbellton, St. John’s, Capreol and finally London where he retired in 1985. He and Helen then built their retirement home in Port Howe, NS where they lived for many years. They moved to Ontario and Alberta and then he moved back to Ontario on his own, where he has lived in Hamilton, Aurora and Richmond Hill. Bob and Helen spent many wonderful winters in Ajijic, Mexico where they enjoyed even more friends and made many wonderful memories. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in Westville, NS on Saturday, October 19th, 2013 at 2:00 pm, followed by a luncheon at the church and then interment of cremated remains at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Bob’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Research institute. (Dignity Memorial)
