In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BARRETT, Neil Archibald - died Saturday June 12, 2021 at home with his wife and daughters, by his side, supported by the very competent Ottawa Palliative Care team.
Neil was born in the town of Mount Royal, Quebec, to the late William and Amy Barrett.
He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth (nee O'Connell), his daughters Leslie-Anne and Lisa and his grandchildren, Ghost Padron, Leo and Samantha Pharand.
Neil attended Nepean High, Horton Academy, Acadia University and graduated from the Nova Scotia Technical College in Electrical Engineering. Neil went on to receive his Masters degree from the US Naval Post Graduate School.
Neil was a quietly confident man, an officer and a gentleman, who felt that everybody had an equal place on this earth. His interest in music rivaled his interest in people. He was a magnet to children and animals alike as he exuded kindness. Anyone who knew him would say, he was a good guy!
Neil and Liz built their life around their family and enjoyed skiing, cottage life, golfing and sailing together.
Neil and Liz were fortunate to travel extensively and visited over 35 countries in their retirement alone. They cherish the many friends they made along the way.
The family will be travelling to PEI to inter Neil's ashes alongside his parents in Hunter River. You are welcome to write a message to be read at Neil's interment or simply sign the guest book. (Ottawa Citizen 19 Jun 2021)
