JUSTASON, Edwin William - The death of Edwin William Justason, 90, of Pennfield, husband of 59 years to Avril (Wright) Justason, occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on January 27, 2005. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on December 23, 1914, he was a son of the late Edward and Alma (Eldridge) Justason. Besides his wife, Avril, Edwin is survived by three daughters, Marsha Duncan (Daniel) of Oakville, ON, Denise Stewart (Wayne) of Pennfield, and Geraldine Rogers (James) of Saint John; one sister, Hilda Smith of Florida; and seven grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by one brother, Harold and two sisters, Muriel and Leila. For over 30 years, Edwin worked at various jobs for Connors Bros. Ltd. in Blacks Harbour. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #39, Blacks Harbour for 50 years, and was a member of the Pennfield Lions Club. He had a great love of hockey, and was a coach to many children in the intramural ages from youngsters to teens. He also had a passion for watching football on TV. The service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB, on Sunday, January 30th, at 2 pm, with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Legion Tribute will be held at the funeral home at 7 pm on Saturday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by the family. An article from the Saint Croix Courier dated 16 Jul 1942 mentions that Edwin Justason, who recently came here from Waltham, where he lived since a small boy, has joined the RCNVR, and is stationed in Saint John.
A second article from the Saint Croix Courier dated 11 Mar 1943 mentions that Edwin Justason, RCNVR, Halifax, is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Eldridge of Beaver Harbour.
