Died: 06 Feb 2011, West Vancouver, British Columbia

 

VINCENT, Marguerite Montgomery (Peggy) (née GREEN) - born February 28, 1915 passed away peacefully on February 6, 2011 at West Vancouver, BC. Peggy was born and raised in North Vancouver and attended North Vancouver High School. During the Second World War she served as an officer in the WRCNS (Wrens), carrying on the Green family maritime tradition. After the war she worked as a switchboard operator at Burrard Dry Dock, and was a Lightkeeper with the Mission to Seamen. While visiting England during the mid 1950's she met her future husband, John Vincent and they were married in 1958. John was retired and they lived in Bromley, West Wickham, Kent. They travelled throughout the UK and Europe including many expeditions in their Dormobile caravan as well as several trips back to Canada. John passed away in 1982. Peggy moved back to North Vancouver in 1985 and enjoyed her many old and new friendships, some of which dated from her earliest years in North Vancouver.

 

Peggy was predeceased by her father, Capt. Ernest Philip Green, her mother Frances Olive Green, and her brother Capt. Philip Teasdale Green. She leaves behind family and good friends throughout BC and the UK.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held on June Second at 2:00 PM at First Memorial, Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd. North Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. (The Vancouver Sun 27 May 2011)
