In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GLEBE, Douglas - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Douglas Glebe on Monday, October 5th, 2020 at the age of 95.
He will be remembered lovingly by his wife of 68 years Eileen Glebe and their children Kathyrn (Richard) Jackman, Gordon (Alanna) Glebe as well as 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as brother William (Lilley) Glebe Jr.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Bula Glebe, brother Floyd and wife Annie, brother Charlie and wife Kristie.
Douglas was born and raised on the family farm west of Pickardville. When he was still in his teens he served in the Canadian Navy during World War II. When the war ended he returned home to farm as well as doing various other jobs, such as in sawmills, coal mines, truck driving, running a grader, and working on the High Level bridge construction just to name a few. Doug was very community-minded and served on several boards, he was President of both the Legion as well as Unifarm, and he also coached baseball. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 only immediate family will be attending his memorial service and interment. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice can be made in Douglas memory. (Town and Country Today 13 Oct 2020)
