In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
KELLY, Hugh Patrick Cormac (Pat) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pat Kelly. Dad is predeceased by Dorine, his loving wife of 52 years, and by his brothers Jack, Doug, Ken, Chris and Robyn, and sisters Nord and Sharry. He is also predeceased by his grandson Richard. Dad is survived by two sisters, Joan and Mona. Heartbroken and left to mourn his passing are his children Patti, Chris, Kathy, Tracy, Susan, Robyn and Mimi and his 24 grandchildren and his many great-grandchildren. Dad was born in Revelstoke, BC to Marjorie Elsie Kelly Parker (née Smythe) and Alan Victor Kelly. Dad was raised in the family farm house on the Big Bend Highway. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1944 at age 17, and served on the aircraft carrier HMCS MAGNIFICENT. On return to Canada Dad met and married Mom in Vancouver. Dad brought Mom home to the family homestead in Revelstoke in 1950 and Dad started working for the Department of Highways. Dad devoted most of his life to service. For 35 years he was a volunteer firefighter and ambulance attendant. He started with the B.C. Ambulance Service in Revelstoke in the mid-1970s retiring in 1992. There were many big family dinners that were interrupted by the phone letting Dad know that he was needed. He had his boots on and was out the door before the phone was back on the cradle. Dad’s other passion in life was family. He was a quiet man but his actions spoke much louder than any words could. He was such a caring and kind man. He showed love in all the things he did for others. Even while living with dementia for the past several years, Dad never lost his excitement for life. He continued to enjoy dancing and singing and nature walks. Dad lived life with a smile on his lips and a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed immensely by all those that knew him. Dad will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Revelstoke at a later date.
