Born: 01 Jan 1931, Souris, Manitoba

HAYNES, Rosa (née HABOK) - September the 21st, 2021 we lost our dear Rosa Haynes. Rosa was born in Souris, Manitoba. She was the 8th child of 11, born to Fred and Mary Habok.

As a young child the family moved to Alexander to farm. Rosa (often called Rose ) was very strong and determined from a very young age. She insisted on taking piano lessons as a teenager, even though they did not have a piano... She was an excellent athlete and from age of 17 until age 21 she played for the Rumford’s Ladies/Curly Mackay’s softball team... In 2015 this Team was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame. After playing softball Aunt Rose spent some time in the Navy Reserves. She attended Business College and worked at the Eaton’s Department Store. At about the age of 24 Rosa moved to Hamilton, Ontario and worked as a Secretary at a Lab at the Hamilton Hospital. It is in Hamilton that Rosa met the LOVE of her life, Bert Haynes. They married in 1958 and stayed in Hamilton for many years... they moved to Orillia, Ontario for a short stint and then in 1986 moved to Digby, Nova Scotia, where Bert was born.

Rosa was extremely talented, from cooking and baking, to quilting, knitting, needle point and painting, her artistic flare was one that many would wish for. They lived in a beautiful home overlooking the Bay and owned a Craft store of which they would sell many of her handmade items. For many years Rosa and Bert would take their mobile home to Florida for the winters until she unfortunately had a heart attack. To describe Rosa in one word it would be “ INDEPENDENT “..... The loss of Bert and then her dog, Maggie, was devastating to her .... She loved animals so much and also loved the name Maggie so every new dog was named Maggie.

Rosa was predeceased by her husband, Bert, step daughter Susan, parents Fred and Mary Habok, sibings, Mary, Ayrain, Anne ,Stan, John, Nettie, Isabelle, nephew Leonard and niece Christine. She is survived by sisters, Kay and Hazel and brother, Fred, sisters in law, Olga and Sharron, Bert’s family Sherman, Barb and their children and grandchildren.... as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be missed. Rosa requested no service and a cremation has taken place.... Rest In Peace Rosa ! We LOVE YOU ! (Jaynes Funeral Home)
