BROWNESS, George Arthur - at the age of 94. Cherished husband of the late Evelyn Purdie. Beloved friend of Phyllis Easton of Devon, England. Loving father of Eve Linda (Maurice), Margaret Ann, Ian Barry and Kenneth Michael. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Sharon (Michael), Cyndi (Peter), Jim (Krista), Michael (Robyn), Christienne (Mark), Alexandra (Marc), Andrea, Kyle, Lorelei and great grandpa to Megan, Hannah, Brendan, Samantha, Jacob, Lucas, Gabrielle, Abigail, Maggie, Greer and Arthur. Predeceased by his son George Arthur, his brothers Robert and Alec and by his sisters Mary and Pearl. George joined the Royal Navy in 1926 and transferred permanently to the RCN in 1942. While with the RCN, positions included Operational Advisor (WT) to the Director of Signals (Ottawa), Commanding Officer, Ottawa WT Station, and Training Officer, HMCS Signal School, St-Hyacinthe, QC. From 1950 until retirement in 1974, he held various senior positions within CSE (the CB-NRC), including Liaison Officer to the U.S. and culminating in the position of Director General COM SEC. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road (east of Bank) Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Monday to the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre Chapel for Mass of Christian Funeral at 3 p.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.
