MacNEILL, Allan Cameron - Predeceased by his loving wife Jen MacNeill on May 12, 2019. Al was a lifelong resident of Vancouver, BC. He is survived by son Bill (Adele) MacNeill, daughter Meg MacNeill, granddaughters Jennifer Edwards and Mary (David) Mackay, great grandaughters Isla, Lily and Pippa, his precious Boston Terrier, Cindy Lou and his many cousins.

Al grew up in Marpole where he and his dog Mike spent their youth playing on the banks of the Fraser River and hunting ducks and geese on Swishwash Island in Richmond.

During WW2 he served in the RCN as a signalman in Halifax.

His love of the company of friends, dogs, hunting and boating were his passions.

While attending the University of Guelph as a veterinary student, he met Jen and was drawn to her by her lively character and her equal love for animals. They married in Brampton, ON in 1952

In 1955, Jen and Al settled into the Big White House in Marpole where they raised children and pets for years. Al, along with his boating buddies, Ernie and Parky, spent summers together and the families boating on the Sea Poppy up and down the B.C. coast with All the pets in tow including guinea pigs and a crow. Gabriola Island eventually became their refuge away from the city where they enjoyed the peacefully tranquility of Gulf Islands.

Al worked as a veterinary pathologist for the Department of Agriculture Canada as well as a Veterinarian for the Vancouver Public Aquarium. He wrote numerous peer reviewed papers on infectious diseases.

Special thanks are given to the excellent staff at Sunrise Home where he received excellent and compassionate care.
