ORASUK, Frank Andrew (Bud) - The death of Frank Andrew Orasuk occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, June 24th, 2013. Born in Mount Oley, BC, he was the son of Michael and Emma Orasuk and the husband of Edith (Cogswell) Orasuk. Bud attended UBC on a scholarship and then joined the Canadian Navy. After the war, the Navy sent him to UNB where he graduated as an Electrical Engineer in 1953. He then served his apprenticeship at ASWE, Portsmouth, England, under Watson Watts, the discoverer of radar. During his career he was on loan to the British Navy for 11 years, and also to the US Navy for 1 year. After 27 years he left the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. Bud's talents in the Electrical field were shown in his expertise in writing a Technical Electrical Engineer course for the Community College of Thunder Bay, ON, where he also taught for three years. He later worked with Coast Guard Fisheries and Oceans as an Electrical Engineer Manager. He enjoyed curling, sailing and especially travelling around the world. He was an active member of St. Peters Anglican Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, and the Royal Canadian Naval Association, New Brunswick Branch. He is survived by his loving wife, Edith; one daughter, Olwyn Rockburn of Ottawa, ON; two brothers, Peter Orason of Ottawa, ON and Michael (Eunice) Orason of Coquitlam BC; grandchildren, Natasha, Amanda, Nathan, Allan; great-grandsons, Alex, Sam and Dylan; one daughter- in- law, Maxine Orasuk of PEI. He was predeceased by his son, Peter; his children's mother, Mavis (Stamper) Orasuk and his second wife, Audrey (Hyde) Orasuk. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a tribute service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peters Anglican Church on Thursday, June 27th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Ross N. Hebb will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Oromocto, NB. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or St. Peters Anglican Church.
