LUCAS, William Arthur (Art) - 97, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on June 1, 2021. He was born to parents William and Helen, on 30 January 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario. Art served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve from October 1941 to August 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal 1939-1945. Art worked as a painter for many years at the Port Arthur General hospital and retired in 1988. He enjoyed rug hooking, woodworking, painting, and colouring. Art enjoyed his time in Winnipeg. He enjoyed spending time on Sundays and special occasions with some of his grandchildren. While living at Sturgeon Creek 1 Art put on many shows for the residents. Featuring his paintings and his coin collection. He enjoyed his time there participating in most musical presentations, playing Bingo and watching old movies. Margaret and Art were married on March 22, 1967 in Port Arthur. Together they raised Gwynneth, Michael, and Brenda. Art is survived by daughters, Gwynneth and Brenda (Jim), son Michael, grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph, Amanda, Sarah and Gabrielle. Great grandson Nathan. Brother Jim (Jolene). He was predeceased by wife Reverend Margaret Lucas (2017), brothers, Gordon (killed in action in Korea 1952) and George (1995), sisters, Irene (2008) and Flora (2012). Cremation has taken place. When it is safe to do so Art will be returned to Thunder Bay and laid to rest with the love of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 or St Michaels Anglican Church. (The Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal 05 Jun 2021)
