Christopher John (Chris) Adams

Died: 28 Mar 2021, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

ADAMS, Christopher  John (Chris) - Age 79 of Halifax passed away peacefully March 28, 2021. Born in Harpenden, England, he was a son of the late Douglas and Muriel Adams. He lived in Muswell Hill, London at the beginning of the 2 World War, 5 minutes from Alexandra Palace. Chris was one of those shipped out to the country during the Blitz. After the war Chris moved to Cranley Gardens for 2 years 1946-48. From their Chris moved to Reigate, Surrey for 5 years. Parents owned a variety store with Post Office and Chris delivered paper. In 1949- 51 Chris went to a private school in Redhill, Surrey for 2 years, a very great school. Chris really enjoyed it there. Then in 1951-53 Chris went to a Naval Training school, for 2 years in Haley, Surrey, which he did not like. In fact, Chris ran away from the boarding school once. In 1953 Chris moved to Canada from England, arriving in N.Y. City on June 1st, 1953. From their Chris got to train in Halifax, where he went through customs and got a taxi to Grimsby, Ontario June 2nd, 1953. Chris went to Elementary school (Grimsby Beach Park School) for 3 years, then Grimsby High school for 4 years and graduated in 1960. From high school he went to the Canadian Navy for 20 years getting out in 1982 as a MCPL. He was a cook most of the time. After he got out of the Navy, he worked at the Stamp Studio with Stan Blummthal for 25 years and joined the commissioners for 15 years mostly at the Ferry Terminal and ended up at the Armies by the commons where he retired in 2014. Chris belonged to the Stamp Club and the Postcard Club and gem society. Chris was an avid Stamp collector, photographer, postcard, and postal history collector. Chris was quite and friendly to everyone and enjoyed walking. He opened his apartment to Tony who was a dear friend when he needed a place to live and was with him until he died of a heart attack. Chris came to know Jesus Christ as his personal savior before he passed away. Thank you, God. He is survived by his loving brother, Derrick (Judy) Adams; 2 nieces, Amanda and Jucinda Adams. Arrangements and Cremation have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, N.S. B3S 1C4. In keeping with Chris’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service held.
