FOOTE, John Frederick (Jack) - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack Foote on Wednesday, April 28th at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Mary Foote. Cherished father of John, Barbara (Carl) and Dorothy (Jeff). Loving grandfather to Neil (Amelia), Erin, Kyle (Erica) and Eric (Kristen) and great-grandfather to Ava and Jack. Adored brother of Dorothy Smith (Donald) and the late William Foote. Longtime dear friend of Celia Hamilton. Jack enjoyed many years living with his son John and attending various sporting events together. He was an extremely devoted family man who loved spending time at the cottage with his extended family. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy as a Lieutenant on a Motor Torpedo Boat during WWII. Following the war he received his BPHE and Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. His teaching career started in Owen Sound and was followed by many years as a teacher and principal with the North York Board of Education. While in Owen Sound he played lacrosse for the Owen Sound Crescents and was a proud member of the 1950 Mann Cup Canadian Championship team. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Canterbury Place Retirement Residence. Thank you also to Dr. Shergold and the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for their exceptional care and guidance over the last 5 months. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to consider donations in memory of Jack to The Alzheimer Society or the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. A funeral service for immediate family will take place on Wednesday, May 5th at 1:30 p.m. The service will be available via the video link on Jack's memorial page which can be found on the Kane-Jerrett Thornhill website.
