Gordon Ayre

 

Died: 30 Dec 1971, Sydney, Nova Scotia

 

AYRE, Gordon - 53, 41 Broadway, died at Sydney City Hospital Thursday. He was born in Newfoundland and lived most of his live in Sydney. He was a former railroad conductor at the Sydney steel plant. Mr. Ayre was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the Whitney Pier Branch, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Beaton of Point Aconi; two daughters, Julia (Mrs. David MacRae), Guelph, Ont.; and Rosemary, in Sydney; five sons, Victor, Roderick, Richard, in Glace Bay; Edward in Toronto, and Gregory, Kitchener, Ont.; two brothers, William and Sam, Sydney; and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Morris, Sydney River; and Julia, in Newfoundland. The body is at the R. H. Fillmore Funeral Home, Sydney. The funeral will be at the Fillmore Chapel, Sunday at 2 p.m., with burial in Eastmount cemetery.
