LAYBOLT, Alfred Andrew - 76, Chester Basin, died July 10, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Little Harbour, he was a son of the late Robert Lowery and Genevieve (Jennifer) (MacKay) Laybolt. He served during the Second World War in the merchant marine and the Royal Canadian Navy. He retired from the Naval Armament after 25 years of public service. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Chester Basin; HMCS Iroquois Veterans Association; Federal Superannuates National Association; Over Forty Club, Chester Basin; Ruth chapter 57, Order of the Eastern Star; past master of Fidelity Masonic Lodge; member of Renown chapter 19, Royal Arch Masons of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland Antiquity Preceptory 5, Knights Templar and Norwood 125 Masonic Lodge, New Ross. Surviving are his wife, the former Violet Demont; daughter, Manita MacIntyre, O'Leary, P.E.I.; brother, Chester, Dartmouth; sister, Mary Conrod, Dartmouth; half-sister, Irene Ritchie, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by brothers, Maurice, Calvin. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Anglican Church, Rev. C. Tomlin officiating.
