GOGGIO, Ernest Cravera - passed away on January 11, 2021 in San Francisco. He was born in Toronto, Canada on February 24, 1923. He was one month shy of his 98th birthday. He graduated with a B.S. in Maths and Physics from the University of Toronto. Ernest joined the Royal Canadian Navy, on loan to the British Navy in World War II. Stationed in the Pacific Theater, he was a lieutenant serving as radar specialist. After the war, he moved to Pittsburgh, PA, and renounced his dual American/Canadian citizenship, and kept his US citizenship. In 1957, Ernest moved to Milwaukee, and after different engineering positions, in 1967, Ernest formed Pillar Corporation in West Allis. Throughout the years, he grew the company into an international Sales and Manufacturing firm, with several international manufacturing plants. Eventually he, along with Pillar, formed Sensor Control, which was traded on the NASDAQ exchange. That company grew to include many firms under its umbrella, and those companies made everything from MRI instrumentation, breathing systems for firefighters, temperature sensors, and a host of other disparate technologies. In 1990, he moved to San Francisco to be close to family. He was involved in a myriad of philanthropic ventures across a wide spectrum of society. Ernie is survived by his children, Ernest Charles Goggio, Jr. (Kristy); his grand-children, Nicole Carranza (Brian), daughter Allison Goggio, Rachel McKay (Kevin), Tristan Pulver, Aaron Pulver; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Connie; daughter Melissa Pulver; sister Anita Lannom, and brother Alfred Goggio. . There will be a private family service in San Francisco on February 12, 2021. A celebration of life will be held when it is safe for all to attend. Donations can be made in his honor to a charity of your choice. (The Globe and Mail 16 Feb 2021)
