Gerrard Murray Ronald (Gerry) Bell

RCN

Born: 19 Jan 1941, Saint John, New Brunswick

Died: 26 Apr 2020, Ottawa, Ontario

BELL, Gerrard Murray Ronald (Gerry) - Gerry passed away peacefully at The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa, Ontario on April 26th 2020, at the age of 79.

He is predeceased by his parents, Murray and Lottie (née Shanks), his brothers, Gary and Terry, and his wife, Beverly (née Long).

Gerry was a retired member of the Royal Canadian Navy (Communications), a talented writer of poetry, a lover of learning (and teaching!) and most of all, a very dearly loved human being by all those he would meet. He could develop friendships with anyone, no matter who they were or where they came from. Gerry was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Montgomery Branch #351.

Gerry is survived and fondly remembered by his children, Patricia, Gerald (Norma), Steven (Natalie), Richard, and Franky (Emily), his grandchildren, Breanna, Shannon, Justin, James, Deanna and Zoe, and his nieces, Shauna and Patty. He will be forever missed by his many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

In recognition of all the love and care provided, donations in his memory to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Dr. Labinez, staff and friends at Landmark Court, and the staff at the PRVHC for all they have done for our beloved dad and grandpa.

A celebration of life will be held at The National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at Beechwood Cemetery on a date to be determined. (Whelan Funeral Home, Ottawa)
