Donald Stephen Pike

 

Born: 13 Aug 1923, Centreal Greenwich, New Brunswick

 

Died: 03 Jul 2005, Fredericton, New Brunswick

 

PIKE, Donald Stephen - of Brookside Drive, Fredericton, passed away suddenly at home on July 3, 2005 at the age of 81. Husband of the late Evelyn (Degrasse) Pike, of 53 years. Born in Central Greenwich, NB on August 13, 1923, he was a son of the late John Stephen Pike and Myrtle Marsters.

 

Donald was a retired carpenter. He also did custodian work with the City of Fredericton. He was a past member of the 55 Plus Club, a Veteran of WWII, and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 4, Fredericton, NB. Donald enjoyed his time in fellowship and Bible study with special friend, Clifford Stewart and others.

 

He leaves to mourn his children; Stephen of Edmonton, AB, Margaret Whitlock (Cecil), Mary Calhoun (Paul) and James (Pauline) all of Fredericton, NB, Francine Pike of Calgary, AB, Paul (Cindy) of Lower Sackville, NS and Andrew (Michelle) of Chilliwack, BC; his grandchildren, Tara and Jaime, Todd and Derek (Jessica), Rhys and Sandra, Marcia (Chris) and Peter, Nancy, Sherry, Rachel, Sarah and Alex, Kareena and Ashland, Geoffrey, Cassandra and Christopher and Madeline; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Natalie, Cole, Ariel, Damian and Kaylie; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two daughters, Elaine and Judith; one son, John and two brothers, Brenton and Alonzo.

 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 4 are asked to assemble at York Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7 pm for a Legion Tribute. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 2 pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

 

Donald's brother Able Seaman Brenton Pike died when HMCS ATHABASKAN G07 was sunk on 29 Apr 1944
