MAGEE, Gordon Leroy - It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of the patriarch of our family, Gordon Leroy Magee. He passed away after a brief hospitalization in Valley Regional Hospital. Gord went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Gord was born on October 3, 1939 in Berwick. After graduating high school, Gord enlisted in the Canadian Navy where he served his country with great pride. On December 28, 1959 Gord married his wife and life partner of nearly 61 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Orde. Gord served as a deacon at the Baptist church he attended. He served as President of the Cornwallis Military Museum and was a member of the Legion. Gord will be missed by many including long-time family friends, Jack and Gail Chivers, and Tom and Eleanor Garry. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty". They have two children, Michael (Christie) and Nancy (Greg). He leaves behind adoring grandchildren, Megan (Jimmy), Matthew (Randi), Katie, McKenna (Justin), Melissa, Colton, Joseph and Kenny; and great-grandchildren, William, Kayden, Peyton, Maverick, Tripp, Ella and Sadie. Interment took place Woodlawn Cemetery in Lequille on January 6, 2021. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 11 Jan 2021)
