Stanley Henry (Stan) Jones

Died: 11 Nov 2020, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

 

JONES, Stanley Henry (Stan) - 90, Hardwood Hill, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by the love of his family.

 

Born in London, England, he was a son of the late Stanley Edgar and Minnie (Rhodes) Jones. Stan served with the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years, retiring in 1974 with the rank of Petty Officer 1st class. Following, he was employed with the former Ferguson Industries, Pictou as Shipyard Superintendent for a couple years. Stan was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for 15 years. Prior to final retirement, he was employed with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and was a representative for Canadian Educational Plans. Stan was a member of Trenton Church of the Nazarene and The Gideons International In Canada. He was a passionate sports enthusiast and enjoyed curling, reading, doing puzzles and watching Jeopardy. In his seventies, Stan enjoyed touring around on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He enjoyed woodworking and making items for his grandchildren. Stan was proud to have served in the military and helped organize many bus tours to the Tattoo in Halifax and in earlier years always decorated for Natal Day. Stan’s faith in his Lord and Saviour was unwavering. He now enjoys the “room” made ready for him.

 

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dolores (Morehouse); daughters, Alarice Ellen (Clifford) Stewart, Scotsburn; Kimberlea Anne (Terry) Stuparyk, Prince George, B.C.; grandchildren, Aaron (Alina) Stewart and Morgan (Bryn) Endecott, Prince George; Marina Stuparyk, Victoria, B.C.; Tyler Stuparyk, Fort McMurray; Alta; Kevin Stuparyk and Christopher Stuparyk, Prince George; siblings, Cindy James and Michael (Iris) Jones, Dorset, England and Leonard (Kath) Jones, Manchester, England; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, John Jones; sister-in-law, Enid Jones.

 

In honour of Stan’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
