WINCHESTER, Robert Douglas (Bob) - At the Ridgewood Veteran's Wing, formerly of 93 Candlewood Lane, died peacefully on June 15th., 2002. He was 92. Born in Saint John in 1910, Robert was the son of the late James Alexander and Nellie (Douglas) Winchester. He was predeceased by his wife of over sixty years, Laura (Livingston) Winchester as well as his siblings: Bruce, Alec, Albert, Edward, Bessie and Marion. Robert was a World War II veteran, RCN, and a retiree of the Canadian Coast Guard. He was a 50-year pin member of the Masonic Lodge, Hibernia, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bob was very proud of his Scottish heritage and had many interests including gardening, woodworking, and card playing. Bob had a great sense of humour and he loved a good joke. Robert is survived by his three children, Sandra Winchester, Bobbie Walker, and Brian (Brenda Stephenson) Winchester, all of Saint John as well as his grandchildren, Christie (Michael), Tom, Mark, James, Katie, and Alexie; four great-grandchildren, Hailie, Danielle, Mallory and Connor. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), with visitation on Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 2:15 p.m. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
