TRACEY, James L. - age 82 of Port Huron, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born Jan. 1, 1921 in Flint. He married Rita Kurtz, she died May of 1983. Jim sailed with various Great Lakes shipping lines. Jim was raised in Sarnia, ON. He served in the Canadian Navy during World War II. He worked for Mueller Brass Company in Port Huron and was retired for many years.
He is survived by his son, James H. Malissa Tracey, Seattle, WA; daughter Linda Tracey and George Brandon, Phoenix; son, Douglas C. Robin Tracey. Pleasant Ridge; daughter Elaine M. Smotel, Port Huron; 9 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Bill Cooley, California, Angela Proulx, Sarnia and Gertrude Ken Johnson, Sarnia; brothers George Tracey, Sarnia and Charles Vi Tracey, Whitby, ON. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Bill, Michael and sister, Mary Devereaux.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the KARRER-SIMPSON FUNERAL HOME, Port Huron. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
